I’m a dermatologist – do these 3 things to keep your hands looking new

Dr. Shereene Idriss, a board-certified dermatologist, has taken to TikTok to share her tips for keeping her hands looking youthful.

Idriss explains that hands are “one of the biggest signs of your age.”

It promises there are three ways to hack that number, and it doesn’t. 1 is sunscreen: “This is the true fountain of youth for your hands.”

Idriss considers sunscreen a preventative measure against the sun’s relentless exposure.

“From driving to golf to sitting by the window talking on the phone, your hands are chronically exposed,” she said, recommending that those who want to beat the signs of aging apply the same sunscreen on their hands as they use on their faces. .

Second on Idris’ list? A face for hands at night.

“Apply an exfoliating mask to the back of your hands and even your fingertips,” she revealed. “Once it sets, get a nice, thick cream, put it on top and go to bed.”

She promises that with the sleep treatment, “your hands will look like they’ve never seen a day’s work in their life.”

The third and final tip for spring chicken feet? Retinol, also known as vitamin A.

“On days you’re not exfoliating, apply a little to the back of your hands to ensure your skin regenerates as efficiently as your beautiful face.”

And if you can keep your mitts looking luxurious, you can pay for that retinol and facials with a second career as a hand model.

NYC-based hand model Alexandra Berrocal earns $30,000 a year passing her palms in front of the camera lens. “It’s a very special industry,” the 37-year-old previously told The Post. “Not many people know it’s even a real thing.”

Treating the skin on your hands like you would your face will keep it hydrated and youthful, said Idriss, who often shares dermatology hacks to her more than 985,000 TikTok followers. TikTok/shereeneidriss

In the four years she’s been modeling metacarpals, Berrocal said she’s learned that brands prefer even skin tone, thin fingers, beautiful nail beds and clear skin without tattoos or scars.

Berrocal uses Idriss’ nighttime moisture technique, lathering her hands with shea butter. She also protects her paws by wearing gloves when washing dishes.

Her advice to others mirrors that of Idriss, with an emphasis on staying hydrated: “If you wash your hands, make sure you apply lotion right after, because your hands are one of the first places to show aging,” she said.
